I read somewhere that in the book, I guess Tip was neglected or something (along those lines I think, I dunno I could be wrong) so Tip basically taught herself driving and stuff. Like I said, I could wrong about her being or feeling neglected but it was something like that, so I guess they’re going to incorporate that in the film……… It made sense to me…..

Rhianna sounds ok. Kinds sounds too old to be that character, but this movie is obviously a vehicle for Jim Parsons. He alone will probably save the movie!

I still think the Boovs design is dull. :T I’m not crazy about the girl’s personality or animation yet. It’s like her & the alien’s designs don’t match in style enough or something. But I guess it’s early to judge, sometimes Dreamworks designs grow on me. I liked the “oh!” joke & the color changing is cute, but for me it’s still in the category of the less impressive silly Dreamworks movies. It’s kind of got a Lilo & Stitch thing going for it though, I think it’ll do better than Turbo at least.

I fully thought I was going to hate this and then I laughed out loud a couple times and kind of really enjoyed it. Rihanna is confusing but Jim Parsons makes up for it somehow. So I want to see more.

Sheldon (whatever his actual real-world name is) has such a distinct voice that I don’t feel this fits at all. I’ll see this film, as I do all animated movies in theaters, but I wouldn’t if I wasn’t an animator. It looks exceptionally cliche, over and over again. It’s like any originality that could be part of this is lost to modern-day obvious jokes and pratfalls. Which is a real shame, because I think the concept is a decent one in many ways, and the art (humans aside) seems very interesting. The animation looks really pretty nicely done, too, which is unusual for many Dreamworks pictures that are over-acted or follow too closely to video reference most of the time.

Had I not read in the comments that the lead female was Rihanna, I wouldn’t have known, so I don’t have much of a problem with her voice work from this trailer.

In reply to Max den Hartog. I agree. DreamWorks has quotas to meet. If they released Home in 2014, there's not guarantee that it will be successful and they'll have a loss on their hands for the years, which will anger investors and cause their stock price to go down. BUT if they release Penguins in 2014, it most likely is going to be a huge hit because it has an established fanbase. I think this is an easy way to assure that 2014 is profitable and successful on the books, which will keep investors happy. 2015, they an start again with something "new", hoping that it too will be successful.

In reply to Mason Smith. I'm really confused about Rihanna's character. She looks like a 12-year-old and it was announced that Tip is 12 years old but in this trailer it seems like she's older.
