I know I shouldn't reply to a year old comment, but the word is a horrible thing to say in this context because it means "unlawful sexual activity and usually sexual intercourse carried out forcibly or under threat of injury against the will usually of a female or with a person who is beneath a certain age or incapable of valid consent."
It should not be used in the context of changing a movie due to what it implies, and is a really ugly word to use in this situation, in my opinion. And the fact that you're horribly insensitive and unkind is nobody else's problem, but

I find that it was a great twist on the story. As a child I loved the magic Disney brought to the screen. Children love to see a villain, a princess, and a hero. As children we fantasize about being one or the other during play time.
Now as an adult we think a little further in the situation. I remember watching the original Sleeping Beauty with the thought of thinking why was Maleficent evil. So when they brought this to the big screen, I was really impressed. I love both versions. I like a reason behind everything. But that's just me. I loved it. The special effects were incredible except the 3 fairies. I didn't like the look of them. But as far as Angelina Jolie's makeup, it was awesome along with her portrayal of Maleficent.

I thought the movie was phenomenal, despite the intense changes from the original classic. i understand why there are negative views towards the movie being "Sleeping Beauty through Maleficent's perspective" and obviously Maleficent ending up not being evil at the end. But i really think that this movie deserves 4 1/2 stars at least because though it wasn't what i expected, this movie has it all to be honest. What really made me enjoy the movie was the plot, and the message it sent at the end. I'll start with the plot. want to take a moment to relate this to Frozen for a second. I walked out of both movies and thought "Wow that was good" but later after seeing Frozen i realized that most of it made no sense, many many many plotholes, two or three actually emotional sequences, and honestly it was just a cute movie to watch, not really a masterpiece. i walked out of Maleficent and thought that the plot was perfectly well done. Absolutley perfect. I mean since it obviously wasn't going to be a retelling of the orginal Sleeping Beauty, then it really has to be well done to be good, and i think it was amazing. Let me start off by saying the relationships, the actions the characters took, the solutions to the mistakes in this movie made 10 times more sense than Frozen did. Now everyone looks at these "woman saves woman" type of movies and thinks "Oh wow GIrl Power!" and "Yay we don't need a man to save us!" but the messages i took is how bad actions due to greed, hatred, and vengance lead to horrible things and ruin relationships, and how it is true love for someone that ends the whole terrible disaster bad emotions cause. And Maleficent portrayed this message with a plot that actually made sense, fantastic actors, and all of it bundled up with the recognizable origins from the equally as amazing original DIsney Sleeping Beauty story.

Now i do have to agree with Morgan when she asks why a villain can't just be a villain, and i wish that this movie and its beautiful message could be told without twisting up a classic, but these twists to the classic ended up being an absolute wonderful movie, though not what it was expected.

P.S who else thought for a second it would be Diaval who breaks the curse?

Is anyone else tired of stories that marginalize the prince and make him completely worthless? I love empowered heroines and all, but after all these twisted tales in films and books, actually having a prince (or any boy, really; suddenly we're only into girlfriends breaking each other's spells) save somebody will soon be considered a major plot twist in itself.
