Also, I wish this film was more widely received so it would encourage more innovative storytelling like this from the studio.

I think I agree. This film was the most daring of all their releases, and it was executed in such a witty and brilliant way. There really is no other film like Ratatouille, and I agree that it truly is in a league of its own. I wish more people recognized/remembered this gem of a film.

As much as im glad you justified your opinion I personally disagree. To me Ratatouille is one of the worst Pixar movies. I find even Cars more enjoyable. I find Cars characters more engaging and interesting, the romance plot doesnt just happen out of nowhere, its big problems the protagonist has to face doesnt get changed 3-4 times in a single movie and it feels overall as a more solid effort. Don't get me wrong I don't love Cars and I don't hate Ratatouille. Even though I agree with the basic premise of some of the things you said, I don't think that compels what is ultimately a mediocre film (in my opinion) into being excellent.
Yes I know I'm real late to this, but it's something that has come up recently with me and friends.

This article is overlooking the point behind pixar as a studio, all of their movies have meaning behind their action. If you look at the story behind the original cars as a movie it has as great an impact as ratatouille. Every person is entitled to their own opinion but this misses the very essence that makes these movies great and so i have to disagree with it almost entirely.

This is a great article Pablo, and I enjoyed reading your viewpoint! I don't know why, but I just could not like Ratatouille at all. I found myself cringing though most of the movie and was pretty disappointed. I guess there was no particular reason (personally, I found the characters all to be rather obnoxious,) but I am glad to hear from the viewpoint of someone who liked it (especially since I seem to be in the minority.) It was definitely an interesting read, and I might have to re-watch to see if my opinion improves. This is the only Pixar movie I have only seen once since I disliked it so much the first time I saw it, so maybe it just has to grow on me. :)

I should have figured. I don't know why but it gets to me a little bit when people assume Disney/Pixar made a movie because it was animated. You have no Idea how many people at work I end up having to correct. XD
