When I watched this film with my siblings, AlienLegolas made us burst out laughing. Peter Jackson spoiled us with Orlando Bloom. It does feel like “puberty” animation and rigid at times but I’m glad Bakshi created the film for the reason that contemporary animators have other material to compare and contrast aside from Disney.

One of my favorite Disney horse designs is unusual: Frollo’s horse Snowball from The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He’s not in it very much, but the visual of this dark, almost demonic looking horse adds to Frollo’s already terrifying nature:

And although he’s technically not a horse, Sven from Frozen kind of served as the functional “horse” of the film, considering he was the male hero’s sidekick and method of transportation. He’d be my favorite if he counted. I love the bond he and Kristoff share, and Kristoff giving him his “human voice” is something many pet owners do with their cats and dogs so that was very relateable and cute.
