Not sure what part of the world you hail from, but I understand the desperation of wanting more Ghibli, although I have it pretty good here in NYC (annual Studio Ghibli Film Fest yeah!), but I didn't always live here. Whenever I get into the whole "Animation is NOT just for children" argument, Ghibli is typically my go to for examples. Still, even in the f/animation world (see what I did there? lol) here in the US Ghibli still seems under appreciated. It's only when you start talking to anime fans that you really get a good sense of an amazing following. Either way, it's nice when you find people that appreciate the same things you do and Stuidio Ghibli is one of those common grounds that seeps into your core. Like Harry Potter. When you meet a Potter fan, you're instant friends for life. :D

agreed. its frustrating to me how ghibli isn't as ambitious as Disney. but then again, their films qualities r top-notched, so.
they never really focused on their merchandise.... I really hope they do pick up in the future. its also frustrating how ghibli isn't even known in this area of the world when its popular everywhere else. and, altho the studios outputs have qualities as amazing as Disney and sometimes better, its never recognized just coz their films r as serious as a film nominated for best picture.

Yeah, it seems more like this book was put together by cobbling interviews together and decomposing the finished product frame by frame. Any additional and insider insight art is sparce. Definitely a bummer. :(

How disappointing. I had hoped they had changed their take on how to do their Art of books. Kiki's is the most insightful for me (so far), and Howl's Moving Castle is a lot like TWR. Still, being able to peruse the art and script is nice, just wish the books came with more background info, stuff not included in interviews and the finished product.
