I think the fan made turtles were a lot better looking. They are much more appealing and less scary looking. And Megan Fox? Why would Bay want to work with her again since she complained so much about being in Transformers? Honey, that movie made your career (like she had one after the movies).

Their designs, especially sans-mask, are so incredibly unappealing I’m not sure what the designers/modelers were thinking. You can make “mutant” and still have appeal. Appeal is not the lack of “weird, scary turtle monster” but just making that turtle monster visually pleasing to look at.

As far as the “darker” feel of the film, I don’t personally see it as much darker to be honest. The first TMNT movie was also extremely dark, and truthfully at this point that one seems MORE so than this. Then “Secret of the Ooze” became much more light-hearted and funny (Go Ninja Go Ninja Go!). Besides that, this feels so cookie cutter to me. It’s like they took your average action movie of the 2000’s and inserted ugly CG turtles.

I do not have high hopes for this film. I expect it will be a mindless, meaningless two hour event like The Transformers, and lack pretty much any real depth. I’d love to be wrong, though, because I really enjoy the TMNT universe. So we’ll see! I will definitely still be in line at theaters to check it out. Wouldn’t miss it. 🙂

im getting real tired of these…… mutant ninja turtles were animated for a reason: becoz they would look creepy in real life……..some things just need to stay animated people.

I personally find the turtles extremely freaky-looking! And I’m not too fond of Megan Fox being cast as April. I’m like the only guy in the world who doesn’t find her sexy nor like her acting.

I want to be optimistic, but I never really liked Michael Bay movies. And I’m sure I’m not the only one who thinks that Megan Fox was horrible casting choice.
