Likewise. I don’t think it’ll be as serious as “Prince of Egypt” which, though an animated family film, had some surprisingly mature and dramatic moments. “PoE” is still an amazing movie and one of my favorite animated films ever.
“Technicolor Dreamcoat” is a favorite musical too but definitely a lot more playful in tone and storytelling. There’s no mention of God directly in the musical and no giant miracles such as sea splitting or plagues. So I could see it as being a lot more light-hearted and fun. I just hope an animated version does it justice because many times musicals don’t make good transitions into films. Lets hope this one does!

I know Dreamworks has already made their “Joseph: King of Dreams” film, but this will be an animated film based on the musical…I just hope it doesn’t fall short like Richard Rich’s animated “The King & I”.

I won’t be seeing this movie though as my personal religious beliefs are against the portrayal of prophets and/or God in films (which is why I’ve never seen “The Prince of Egypt” or “Joseph: King of Dreams”), but I’m sure this film will find a fan following.
