So I finally go the book. I LOVE it. I completely agree that they did a smart thing by not filling the book with the final CGI models and designs. It’s a lot of concept art and rejected concepts, which is fantastic!

My only complaint is that I wasn’t a fan of the black background with white text. It didn’t really fit (plus I despise reading white text on black). Other than that, it was so good and I can’t wait to read it over and over again.

I didn’t realize the connection between Oozma Kappa and Mike until you pointed that out, Max. Thanks! I’m realizing that there’s a logic and method behind the animated film: monsters, magic, or mayhem, it all has to make sense within its own world. That also goes for live-action films that use GCI to enchance their sci-fi or fantasy worlds such as Vulcan in the reboot of “Star Trek” or Middle Earth in “Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit”.

Yeah, a lot
of these fun and informational facts can be found in this (and other art books
as well), I discovered in ‘The art of Monsters University’ they made the colors
of Oozma Kappa green because Mike can’t wear t-shirts, so when the other
members wear green t-shirts it still looks like Mike is a part of Oozma Kappa. If
you’re interested in facts like this, this book is definitely worth buying.
