I love stop-motion films and I’m in constant awe of the meticulous work that has to go into to bringing these films to life. The Boxtrolls is one of my most anticipated films of 2014.

Now THAT’S how you market an animated film. LAIKA is doing everything right with ‘The Boxtrolls.’

What I love about this trailer is that it capitalized on the natural sense of wonder and curiosity that people have about the making of animated films. It reminded me of the old Disney trailers from the early 90s that took you behind the scenes. To be honest, those are the trailers that I most remember from that era. Not the ones that are straight movie footage.

It was also a great move to focus on the “hand-made” aspect of LAIKA’s films, which is definitely what differentiates their films from the sea of CGI competition. Bravo! I can’t commend this trailer enough.
