My second post, I dunno what happened with the first. Here are my notes:

1. Oy… is this going to be yet another “comedy” with the same voice-over actors, a talking animal and non sequiturs ?

2. As far as offensive humor. To me offensive humor IS offensive when it’s not funny. Humanity is kind of hilarious all over the spectrum, when you make a joke about something touchy and it falls flat, it’s an insult. When someone is actually hurt by it, that’s not funny either. It’s unfunny, it’s a grey area and you really have to be at the top of your game. Family Guy gets some good jokes in, but often it goes for a cheap shot an rarely pieces together a coherent narrative so it can be a big does of offense.

I am a firm believer that there are other ways to make people laugh than insulting every gender, religion, race, job, political view, etc. Oh and don’t forget the sexual jokes found in pretty much all his works. Offending or not, I just wouldn’t call his work comedy.

Looks interesting. In all honesty, I am a Hispanic person myself, and I personally was never offended by the Consuela character, or any other stereotyped Hispanic on Family Guy. I think it’s because his work makes fun of everybody and pokes fun at all stereotypes, like most comedic work does. If he just made fun of Hispanics, then I would have a problem with it. I’ll also admit that I find a lot of Hispanic jokes funny, but when done right. But that’s just how I see it, I can see why some may disagree with me. 🙂
