I wouldn't worry just yet. This is actually, IMO, something of a relief, considering that they could've went the safe route and just hired the Alvin and the Chipmunks or Smurfs producers to handle the film. That being said, I'm still very much on the fence, but choosing Paul Feig to produce it is a bit unexpected. As Milan and TAC pointed out, the script is being penned by Schulz's son and grandson.

I just hope the best for this film, and that it does not turn out to be a Smurfs/Chipmunks-y film. However, I still personally want it to be hand-drawn... (Pipe dream)

Feig is a huge Peanuts fan and it has been a huge influence on him, especially on Freaks and Geeks. It is in good hands.

I don't think I've ever seen a film produced by Paul Feig, but I too am wary about this film, not just because he's producing it but because it's being done by Blue Sky Studios.
I'm a HUGE Peanuts Fanatic as well , and I find this quite odd. But the good news is that the screenplay is by Craig Schulz (Charles Schulz's son) and Bryan Schulz (his grandson.)

Having just watched the Halloween special, I feel like I have been kicked in the head......... because Lucy removed the football and Charlie Brown has bad aim.

But in all seriousness, this news worries me. I really did enjoy 'The Heat' and 'Bridesmaids', but that kind of humor DOES NOT fit in the the Peanuts universe at all. Add in the fact that Feig has never done anything in the field of animation before and, yeah, I am concerned.

These characters have a special place in my heart and I don't want to see them done wrong by.
