While HTTYD2 will be DW’s biggest film next year, it isn’t a Winter 2014 release. As for “of color”, I guess it is still in usage for being inoffensive and convenient?

I think that How to Train Your Dragon 2 is Dreamworks’ BIG movie for 2014, not Home. Btw isn’t the phrase “of color” a bit outdated?

I have good feelings about this film – woman of color main character is awesome in the first place.

It’s like Chris Pine as Jack Frost. He was wayyy too old to voice that character.

But the film from both what we’ve seen from the designs and what we know of the plot seems to be along the lines of “Planet 51” and “Escape from Planet Earth”. Basically it seems too kiddish. It just feels way below Dreamworks Animation’s reputation. I’m not the biggest fan of Dreamworks Animation, but they are the studios that brought us “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Kung Fu Panda”.

This seems that it’ll be to the Dreamworks Animation Canon what “Home on the Range” was to the Disney Canon: maybe likable, but in the end totally aimed for kids with little to no creativity.

Yeah, I think this image of the character just cemented the theory that Rihanna was just cast for name only as fact. Ugh.

I agree. Rihanna sounds nothing like a kid. If they wanted a celebrity, why not an actual actress? I think the little girl from the movie Beasts of the southern wild would have been perfect (if I knew how to spell her name, I’d put it in this comment, but I barely even know how to pronounce it) She’s the youngest person ever to be nominated for an Oscar, so she’d fit Dreamworks’ desire for casting celebrities. I’m not really into aliens myself, but I like the design for the girl in this movie.
