Well, I just got done watching it (prepping for the event at Sony tomorrow, representing AnimationFascination) and I have to say it's not so bad to me. I definitely agree you should check out the first one because you may be missing some key innuendos, character quirks, inside jokes ETC. Appreciated the overwhelming feeling Flint dealt with of creating life (every parent!) and the beautiful foodimals. I actually will watch this one again and may even be intrigued by a 3rd (GASP!) haha!

What animated films DO you like?

Systematic critique of your
(negative) criticism!!!!

"Cloudy 2 is the leftovers no one wants to
eat."

-"Cloudy 2 didn't sit well with me" is accurate.
Ticketing sales, downloads, and other reviews would indicate that lots of
people wanted to enjoy Cloudy 2

    "I hadn’t seen the original
Cloudy film, but luckily, I didn’t need to."

-*pm1*You need to. Clearly.
A lot of the problems you thought you saw in this movie (character development
etc.) were taken care of in the first movie. (e.g. The main characters were
introduced and developed already. It was unnecessary to redevelop them when
there are new characters being introduced and developed.)

"Within the first few minutes, the movie did a great job of quickly
recapping the first film and getting everyone up to speed. That being said, I
still wasn’t able to get into this movie and I don’t think it had anything to
do with the fact that I hadn’t seen the first one."

-See " *pm1*
" above

-*pm2* Methinks you were unable to enjoy it because of external
influences.

-Perhaps you had to rush off to Disney World and your flight was
scheduled to leave when the movie was scheduled to finish its run time. Maybe
you should avoid drinking the "Extra-Large" Mountain Dew sold in
movie theaters, and consider the major decision on whether or not to refill
that drink with more solemnity. regardless, it is not the fault of the
filmmakers that you actively chose to have somewhere else to be as you watched
this.

"I just wasn’t engaged as I watched it and it seemed I was always
looking at my watch."

-See *pm2* above

"The story was predictable
and not suspenseful, especially since within the first five minutes they reveal
who the villain is."

-The storyline was SO predictable that I'm sure you
knew Chester V was using the island for his food bars. I'm sure you saw the
weakness to his hologram battling the first time Steve pushed the party button.
Of course you knew that cheeseburger-spiders only attacked live-corp products
as soon as you saw the color orange. But the fact that you knew all of that in
advance is not a detriment to the movie, because some movies are made with
purposes other than giving you a headache. This is not classified as a
"psychological thriller." *pm3* It is an animated children's movie ,
not "inception." Animated children's movies tend to cater to their
targeted audience: CHILDREN.

-In short: this argument is invalid.

"The
jokes weren’t that funny and resorted many times to potty humor, which is
typical in many animated films. For example, Steve the Monkey’s “brown crayon”
was definitely a hit with the kids."

-Yeah... I can think of 2 legitimate
"potty humor" examples. There are 3 if you count the situation where
Barry eats the BSUSB. Most jokes were not necessarily associated with a
punchline, but that doesn't mean they were not funny. it is acceptable to say
that you didn't get the humor, but inaccurate to say the jokes weren't that
funny. This movie made more puns than you have made cumulatively in your entire
life.

-And as far frowning upon potty humor, see *pm3* above.

"My favorite characters actually weren’t Flint, Sam and his
friends"

See *pm1*

I give this article 2 stars for validity, 1 star for effort, 1 star for the things your team is posting in the commentary, and I take away a star from the sum before the average for comparing any villain to Steve Jobs. On average, I rate this blog post at 1 star.

I hear ya. Ah yes, you're right; we all did reviews for Planes.

Animation has been blessed with very excited, passionate fans and we're thrilled to be a part of it all. We know it can be really frustrating to hear another fan's opinion that you don't agree with. We appreciate the fans who "bridle their passions" as they discuss animation with others :D

It's "biased", not bias. I found a couple of good grammar books on Amazon; if you could order them through our Amazon affiliate link that would be great.

When you say "you" who do you mean? Because I did the review for Planes (which I did not love) and Morgan did Cloudy 2. See the potential difference in opinions there?

I think once you actually listen to the podcast you'll see that we're not as biased as you say. If you don't like what we post, you're not obligated to keep reading/listening/watching.
