One that proved to me how far they were willing to go, was the missiles/plane scene. I'm sure many in the audience like myself were expecting a miraculous save by violet at the last moment...and Brad just pulls the rug out from under us, and throws a glass of water in our face.

In those post 9/11 times, anything involving aerial explosions was largely off-limits, but I remember hat feeling of not knowing how they were going to get out of that situation going into free fall.

I swear the first crowds, you could feel this sense of tension in the room, and when Helen turned into a parachute, there was a combination of laughter and applause. I think they were largely the result of the tension, leaving the audience.

The fact that Brad was telling us that these characters could be hurt, makes The Incredibles my 2nd favorite PIXAR film (I don't think any of their films will ever dethrone my favorite one).

Great post, Mayra! Worth noting, I also think Syndrome is a fantastic villain, and I love all the quasi-futuristic gadgets he has - from the sticky balls that get shot at Mr. Incredible, to his zero-point energy, to the Omnidroid, it's all so cool! But that's my inner sci-fi nerd, is all. Okay, my rather surface-level sci-fi nerd...

A couple smaller things I like about this film is in the scene where Mr. Incredible is getting back in shape. I really enjoyed the music played in this scene. The lighting and coloring is also great, similar to #4 (The Glory Days) you highlight above. Finally, not only specific to this scene, but I love the style of the their house! It's just an awesome retro, 50/60s look with little doodads, furniture, lamps, etc that remind me of my grandparents house.
