Seeing one cell phone illuminate its blue light in a dark room while trying to focus on the main screen is bad enough. To have iPad sized screens catered throughout the theatre would distract other moviegoers. But I agree that this feature is best suited for home-viewing

Well said. Films of the Disney Renaissance calibur are moving works of art and the constant bleeps and flashes seem like they could distract from the animation and music. Not to mention getting buttery popcorn fingers on the iPad sounds messy!

This news reminds me of an article I read from the 50’s trying to promote newfangled movies (to compete with the rise of television) with “Smell-O-Vision” and 3D glasses to make them more interactive to the audiences. Seems that every generation has a go at wanting to keep up with the times.

I tried watching the Lion King with the Second Screen app running on my laptop. It was kind of a disaster as you couldn’t really read the info on the computer and enjoy the movie at the same time. This will be even worse because there will be some of us there actually trying to WATCH the movie. We don’t really want a bunch of iPads in our faces or blocking the view of the screen. This is just crazy!

It was going to be released in 3D to coincide with the Blu-Ray, but as that was cancelled. As far as I know, this is the only way to see it in theaters.

no Disney. Kids and parents can also enjoy hand drawn animation films without
Ipads and Phones these days. I think turning them into 3D movies was a smart
turn to bring them back into cinema’s but this is just crazy! And I think if
everyone in the cinema is playing on their Ipad you won’t enjoy the film
anymore.
