Which did you all think was better: the theatrical live-action Scooby-Doo films (Scooby-Doo, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed) or the TV live-action Scooby-Doo films (Scooby-Doo! The Mystery Begins, Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster)?

I LOVE the Scooby-Doo franchise! And I still love and watch the direct-to-DVD animated films that are currently being released, so I hope this new theatrical film follows the animation style of those movies rather than the live-action films.

And Daphne is my animated wife, so that’s more reason why I have to be excited about this movie 😉 !

Hanna Barbara seems to be the only studio making 2D animated movies in America these days. Even though they are D2V. Such a shame. If this is a cinema release, it will most likely be CGI.

In reply to Morgan Stradling. YES, PLEASE! What a fantastic idea. I love love love Scooby Doo. I hope they make a fantastic family film that everyone can enjoy. I hope they don't make a children's movie out of it, but something we can all enjoy. They have to know nostalgia is their biggest ally.

I agree. If Pixar has proved anything, it’s that animated movies can appeal to adults while keeping it G in the process.

But I’m not quite sure whether WB can pull off the same act. Let’s hope they’ve learned something from those live action/CGI hybrid movies.

Personally, I would LOVE to see a Scooby-Doo film that was targeted to adults. Not adult, as in nasty content, but just a bit more scary or spooky. Generations have grown up with Scooby-Doo and it would be a bold move to make a film that is specifically for them.

Then again, that limits the possibilities of introducing Scooby to yet another new audience that most likely will want to consume hoards of Scooby-Doo toys and merchandise. So…yeah.

I don’t follow Scooby-Doo particularly closely but it was one of my favorite childhood shows, and I loved both live-action films, so I’m excited to see how this will shape up. I think the best route would be to stick to the ’70s motifs, celebrating its heritage (like The Muppets) to broaden its appeal. Jinkies!
