Honestly, I think the reason they cast Tom Hanks is because of how much of a beloved American actor he is. It’s almost like thinking he’s the acting, modern day equivalent of what Mr. Disney used to be. He has the charm, and the witticism, no not the mannerisms, but personally, I think that’s where Mr. Hanks gets to act, instead of just copying everything Mr. Disney portrayed in old footage. Still, I understand the reservations towards his casting, personally I don’t think Mr. Hanks has been putting out quality work the way he used to.

I agree with you about miscasting Walt. Tom Hanks DOES just seem like he’s playing Tom Hanks. It’s even a bit distracting, personally. An unknown or lesser known actor (or even one who just actually could NAIL Walt’s speech, mannerisms, speech, etc.) would have made this much better…especially since Walt is so iconic and well known (even now, nearly 50 years after his death).

But is it wrong that I think Tom Hanks was miscast as Walt Disney? I dunno, I don’t see Walt in his perfromance, I just see Tom Hanks. Probably just me but I wish they cast an unknown actor to play Walt Disney.
