I think, since she’s officially crowned as a Disney Princess, she should be recreated in the more hand-drawn animation that Cinderella, Snow White, Belle, and the rest of them are in. HOWEVER, I loathed the way they did it. Everything that made Merida who she was was stripped away from her and in her place was this girly princess that didn’t even look like the beloved Brave character. If they toned down the sparkles, makeup, and tooth pick figure, and gave her back her plain dress, wild hair, and non-made up face, she would look great. She wouldn’t look very nice kept in computer animation next to all the other ten hand-drawn princesses.

I took it more of a way that Merida would look like this if she were hand drawn. I think there is the Merida from the movie and the Merida when she is lined up with all of the other Princesses. I am getting annoyed when people call her the first feminist princess. Everyone knows the first feminist princess title belongs to Belle. And honestly, Belle has a better message with her story which is to not judge a book by it’s cover. Give it a rest people.

I don’t get WHY so many fuss over freakin Merida, the worst Princess ever created. I thought she didn’t looked as much diferent as Rapunzel for instance, WHO NEVER looked like she does in the movie! -___- Belle, Cinderella and so forth, all look like sluts now, BUT DO PEOPLE care for that? Of course! Do they create a big fuss over it? NO. Merida has been the subject of fights, discussions and crap ever since she came out. I can’t wait for the day where she’s lost and forgotten and all this nonsense will be over. And that woman has been doing nothing but saying bad things about other people…Brenda crappy. Once she was fired she cried over being replaced by a man, now she makes Disney the big bad wolf…BAHH to her. Get a life! -___- What the heck is she trying to prove? Hate these people who make a storm on a glass of water. What will be the next? gawd

I have to admire Brenda Chapman for standing up for her girl Merida. To have so much strength to stand up to a company that practically monopolizes the way we view animation is incredible. I also have to agree with her, 2D Merida no longer represents what the original Merida is all about. Her essence has been lost in the transformation, and it is going to warp how she is perceived to the public…to play devil’s advocate, the design is pretty but it does nothing for what the character was supposed to be. Glad to see so many people feel strongly about this.

Disney needs to go back to the original designs. The 2013 designs are a joke! I hate how the 2D princesses look different, but what bothers me more is the CGI ones. I know Rapunzel has 2D sketches by Glen Keane! Can’t they get him to draw a good one instead of the garbage they are marketing? I agree with Brenda. They are marketing to little girls, not teenage boys!

Meh, Merida herself isn’t even that great of a character. Her only defining aspects are that she doesn’t get a prince and that she’s an archer. Aside from those things, she’s a pretty bland character with hardly any personality. As for the redesign, it didn’t really bother me as she looks great in 2d animation. Plus there’s a better level of consistency, when putting her next to the other princesses.

I just wish Disney would stay more true to original character designs. The restyled versions of the characters are tacky and boring. As far as i’m concerned, the new designs are an insult to the animators that created the characters. The characters are almost becoming separate from the movies that they have starred in, assuming new cliched, gaudy identities. I’m disappointed.

I’m also behind Brenda! This is not Merida! This is to sexy, and to girly! And i don’t only hate Merida’s design but al the new designs!
