Personally, I don't think this movie is for everyone. And i'm not using "everyone" as a euphemism to mean that it has adult themes children shouldn't see. I think the animation was accomplished at best, but lacked actual depth (figuratively and literally). Also, the overall landscape of characters/creatures felt a little too close to those from Avatar The Last Airbender, particularly the half creatures, and the voice acting didn't fully embody the animation. But most of all, the story itself was not what I was expecting. From the Berlin reviews, I knew to expect a sacrifice and no real villain. These things I was down with. But the part that gets me, is that the sacrifice wasn't whole, not real, and that got to me. You never saw the characters accept their fate, which would have made the pay off at the end a lot more hearwarming. Instead, you got a "Finding Nemo" rip-off in my opinion. Hope this isn't too spoilery, or incensitive, just my thoughts.

Oh I'm with you guys. Just saw "The Croods" and I LOVED IT!! Loved the characters, loved the settings, liked the story. One thing that I loved about it was at the end when Grug gathers the animals they encountered into a flying ark and they become pets to the family. This is a more friendlier tamer version of "Life of Pi" where there are animals that join in for the ride but then there's killing. So...another job well done for DreamWorks!
