I’m a huge Tintin fanatic and wish I could’ve guest starred on this podcast!

“A little bit more of a sort of espionage type of story.” Sounds fascinating. As the series went on I can imagine how Herge could have transfered his character from WWII situations to Cold War scenarios. In the books there are civil wars, kingdoms at stake, Tintin gets recruited as a soldier or accused of being a spy, he even goes to the moon–there’s a lot of material to work with.
If Anthony Horowitz is in the driver’s seat then I have confidence in the sequel. Sounds like he’d raise the stakes where a lot more is at risk then a treasure hunt.

I’m down. I think the tone shift is good to mix it up and slow it down a bit. Could you imagine having a Tintin marathon if all the films were super fast paced?! Yikes.

Yesss! I’m thrilled to hear that! Same Anthony Horowitz who wrote the Alex Rider books and Foyle’s War? If so then the sequel will probably have a different style; this film had a lot of action-packed scenes that definitely reminded me of Indiana Jones.

Wonder who will be playing Calculus…I’d like to see Rowan Atkinson do the part!

A sequel is in the works, with a writer (Anthony Horowitz) attached, and Peter Jackson will direct it. He said in a recent interview that he hoped to shoot the mo-cap this year for a 2015 release.

But I don’t know if he intends to shoot it before or after his new Hobbit scenes this summer. I’m guessing it’ll rather be a 2016 release. We’ll see.

And yes, it’s been confirmed that Professor Calculus will be in the sequel.

Hope Spielberg and Co. consider doing a sequel so we can see the other Herge characters, especially Professor Calculus and Tintin’s friend Chang.
