Among a host of original content debuting with the launch of the streaming service Disney+ on November 12 is a live-action remake of the 1955 Disney animated classic Lady and the Tramp.
D23 Expo debuted the first trailer and poster for the reimagining, which stars Tessa Thompson and Justin Thoreux in the title roles. Take a look!
Co-starring are Kiersey Clemmons as Darling, Thomas Mann as Jim Dear, Janelle Monáe as Peg, Yvette Nicole Brown as Aunt Sarah, Sam Elliot as Trusty, Ashley Jensen as Jock, and F. Murray Abraham and Ken Jeong in to-be-announced roles.
The remake is directed by Charlie Bean, who began his career as a story and layout artist on various animated television series and more recently directed The Lego Ninjago Movie and episodes of Tron: Uprising.
The original animated film was a personal request of Walt Disney himself, based on the story “Happy Dan, The Cynical Dog” by Ward Greene and was produced in gorgeous Cinemascope.
