[Blu-Ray Review] ‘Star Wars Rebels: Season 4’

[Blu-Ray Review] 'Star Wars Rebels: Season 4'
After four action-packed years, Star Wars Rebels, has come to a close, and now the final season is available to own on DVD and Blu-ray!

Season four saw the culmination of several long-standing plot threads, the return of beloved characters, and answered some of the most important questions that fans have been asking for the past four years. The biggest of which was, “Why aren’t these characters in the original trilogy?” I won’t spoil the answer to that one, just in case you’ve yet to see the series, but suffice it to say, there are excellent reasons, and this set is full of them.

The Set

This set, as usual, contains every episode of the final season, plus some great extras.

Six Audio Commentaries

The six audio commentaries all feature executive producer Dave Filoni and cover the pivotal episodes, Heroes of Mandalore Parts 1 and 2, Jedi Night, Wolves and a Door, A World Between Worlds, (also features sound editor, Bonnie Wild) and Family Reunion – And Farewell.

Ghosts of Legend

This documentary is a look back at the show and the characters who were created for it. It is split up into chapters, most of which focus on each of the six core characters of Rebels.

In The Beginning
The Lost Boy: Ezra Bridger
The Fallen Knight: Kanan Jarrus
The Captain: Hera Syndulla
The Broken Girl: Sabine Wren
The Survivor: Zeb
The Veteran: Chopper
The End

Force of Rebellion

Hosted by Dave Filoni, Force of Rebellion gives us insight into the mythology of the Force as it relates to Ezra and his journey throughout the series. This interview is split into four chapters covering different aspects of the Force.

Temptation
Everything is Connected
Between Worlds
The Choice

Kevin Kiner: The Rebel Symphony

This featurette is a look behind the scenes of the creation of the music of Rebels, with composer Kevin Kiner. It’s an insightful look back at the show and what inspired the sounds and themes from many of the iconic characters and moments from the series.

Rebels Recon

As with all of these sets, we also get every episode of Rebels Recon, the Rebels after show on StarWars.com. Hosted by The Star Wars Show‘s Andi Gutierrez, these episodes are an entertaining and fun look behind the scenes of every episode, with insightful interviews, silly skits, and behind the scenes trivia.

Final Thoughts

Star Wars Rebels has been such a big part of my online life for the past few years that I can hardly believe it’s over. It was one of my first regular series that I reviewed when I started writing for the Rotoscopers, and one of the first big Blu-Ray sets that I got to review. I’ve reviewed every set since then, so it seems fitting that I would get to review this final set. It’s a bit bittersweet to say goodbye to the show, but I have no doubt that this is not the last we’ve seen of the crew of the Ghost.

If you’re a fan of Star Wars, you owe in to yourself to watch this show. If you haven’t seen this season, definitely pick up this set, and if you have, and you loved it as much as I did, you’re definitely going to want to add this one to your collection!
