Kicking off the final day of the 2017 D23 Expo was a Q&A with the cast and crew of Disney’s Tangled: The Series. The Q&A featured series creator and executive producer Chris Sonnenburg and co-executive producer Ben Balistreri, along with the voices of characters Rapunzel, Flynn Ryder, Cassandra, and Varian – Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi, Eden Espinoza, and Jeremy Jordan, respectively.
Tangled: The Series premiered March 27, 2017 following the March 10th premiere of the TV movie Tangled: Before Ever After. The last episode of this season, “The Return of the Strongbow” aired back in April. The season will resume July 23rd with a new episode entitled “In Like Flynn”.
Fans will be happy to know that Sonnenburg and Balistreri have some exciting things in store for the rest of the season. One of the new episodes airing this summer, entitled “Pascal’s Story”, will focus on the story of how Pascal met Rapunzel.
Spoilers Ahead – “Pascal’s Story”
An animatic from “Pascal’s Story” aired during the Tangled: The Series Q&A. The animatic featured an adorable baby Pascal and another chameleon (presumably his mother) fleeing a vicious snake!
In order to save Pascal’s life from the snake, the other chameleon places Pascal on a lily pad and sends him away down the nearby river. As the helpless baby Pascal floats away, he sees the snake attack the other chameleon.
Upon reaching the shore, Pascal hears a child’s voice singing. He discovers a young Rapunzel in her tower. Just as Pascal enters the tower, the snake, which appears to have followed him down the river, attacks him from behind, leaving him injured with a snake bite. Child Rapunzel scares the snake away. She then uses her magic hair to heal Pascal’s wound.
New Alan Menken Music
Sonnenburg also made another big announcement about the second half of the season – it will feature a brand new song written by Alan Menken and performed by Jeremy Jordan as his character, Varian!
The song will be part of an upcoming episode in which the kingdom of Corona is set upon by a huge storm. Varian, needing Rapunzel’s help, sets out to the palace. Making his way through the storm, he sings a song about how he hopes to prove his worth to those around them.

Questions Answered
Regarding the mysteries of Rapunzel’s magical hair and other unanswered questions, Sonnenburg and Balistreri promised that fans’ questions regarding the mythology of the series will be answered in upcoming episodes. According to Balistreri, Chris Sonneburg has already planned out the entire series and both already know how the series will end. Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore reiterated that the entire series has been mapped out, and both insisted that they are 100% in support of the direction Sonnenburg and Balistreri plan to take the world of Tangled.
