It’s your lucky day, everypony! Hasbro and Lionsgate gave us a real treat by releasing quite a few new assets for My Little Pony: The Movie.

Official Trailer

First up, we got the official trailer, which goes into a bit more detail about the plot and the new baddies the Ponyville gang will face. Check it out below!

The trailer features Princess Twilight Sparkle and the Mane 6 on yet another journey to save Equestria; this time it’s against the evil pony Tempest. The animation is a nice upgrade, as it features a bit more shading and definition than we’re used to in the TV series (which is quite good as is).

New Stills

The new film stars our favorite ponies from the series, but also includes an all-star cast with some new characters. We get new royalty with Kristin Chenoweth and Uzo Aduba voicing Princess Skystar and Queen Novo, respectively; Zoe Saldana as a the swashbuckling Captain Celaeno; and Equestria’s pop star Songbird Serenade played by Sia. You can see these new characters and more in the stills below.

  • That airship though…

    • Yep. The CG looks thoroughly unfinished.

      • It looks like something that belongs on a old 3D video game.

  • First seeing the trailer the art threw me off a lot, really used to the tv design lol!!
But looking at the trailer again here I really like how epic and just so beautiful and mesmerizing the animation looks! I really hope this movie is as good as it’s cast!! :DDD

  • Not sure if this is true, but I think this will be America’s first theatrical Toon Boom film.

  • Yellow

I wonder how big this movie is going to get.

  • Jeremiah

I am not excited for this movie at all.
More seriously, watched this trailer with my siblings (all of whom are well above the target age) and we loved it. So I can’t say what little girls will think of this, but it seems to work for teens and adults. 😛

    • Harith Sami

nah, the target audience is mostly Bronies and little girls.

    • Tristan Michels

Agreed. Not excited for it. I’m not a Bronie, so I don’t care.

  • I’m not a fan of the show, but this looks cute, although I think it’s kinda lazy to have Sia basically play a horse version of herself. In the show that might work, but in an animated movie they should have her play an actual character.

    • Agreed on the Sia part! To me, it’s so much better when celebs voice new characters. Like when Lady Gaga played…Lady Gaga on the Simpsons. Snore!

  • ValkarieandherInventorChief

The CGI isn’t fantastic, but heck there looks like there is some violence and seems like Ms. Evil pony won’t be easily talked out of her villainous deeds, thank the gods on that one. I think this could be a good movie, probably the plot similar to the Simpsons, like the main six escape Equestria probably on the water, then go in search of someone, ANYONE to help them defeat her. Keeping faith that Twillight will actually have to stay tough and Tempest will not bow.

  • Meko Ocampo

I’m super excited. I’ve been a fan since 2010 and started watching when I turned 20 and now I’ll be 26 when this movie comes out. Best cartoon ever, thank goodness it finally got a worldwide movie release treatment. Thanks Hasbro. 🙂

  • I was never really into the My Little Pony tv show, but this trailer is intriguing.
