‘Star Wars Rebels’ Renewed for Fourth Season

Star Wars Rebels is hurtling toward the final episodes of season three, but up until now we weren’t sure whether or not this would be the end or not. We are currently about two years before the time explored in Rogue One, and we’ve had no guarantee that we are going to cover every event that leads up to those climactic moments.

But fear not! Star Wars Rebels has been renewed for a fourth season! Lucasfilm announced via an article on starwars.com today that the show has been renewed for the 2017-2018 television season, which will premiere later this year.

Regarding the announcement, Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President of Programming and General Manager of Disney XD said, “The team behind Star Wars Rebels delivers epic storytelling that has captivated fans of all ages across the globe. We’re excited to continue sharing the journey of these fan-favorite rebels with our audience in the fall.”

Star Wars Rebels season three currently airs, and will continue through the month with a two part season finale on March 25th.

What do you think of this news? Are you excited to see where Star Wars Rebels will go from here?

With Rebels now getting a fourth season, this along with Star, Milo, Big Hero 6, Pokemon, Spiderman and last but not least Ducktales, this might make Disney XD have the strongest line up out of the three networks.

I’m looking forward to the debuts of Big Hero 6, Spider Man and Ducktales. As for Disney Channel, I’m excited for Tangled next week.

    • Totally agree. When they first announced Disney XD I thought it was kind of a dumb idea, and assumed that they were just making another Disney Channel (but for boys!) but they’ve become so much more than that recently. They have really been killing it these last few years! Disney XD’s program lineup is far stronger than the main channel’s!

    I just want Ahsoka back

    • I know the feeling. I’m hoping for a surprise appearance in the season finale. 🙂

I feel totally relieved that Season 4 is happening! I thought this was the end for Rebels. May the force be with us

    • I’m also relieved and excited since I read that “Clone Wars” had to end short of its 6th season so I hope “Rebels” gets to tell all of the stories that they want. Ezra and Sabine have grown so much over season three that I want to know what happens next on their journeys; especially further wonders of the Force since they introduced the Bendu. Because of “Rogue One” coming out recently, there’s so much to ponder over what will become of the Rebel Alliance for the next 2 years.

Well what also remains to be seen is if the show will last up until the events of A New Hope (happy 40th anniversary).

Off-topic: I don’t mean to sound rude but why does Rotoscopers not feature any new movie stories anymore? All I’ve seen is mostly about Disney and Dreamworks and very minimal to anything outside of those two companies. I used to rely on the website for animated film stories but, sadly, I don’t see that anymore. Again, not trying to sound rude but I’m eager to know why the website changed so much.

    • It all depends on who is available to do what. All of our writers are volunteers who write articles in their spare time. I don’t think anyone is neglecting anything on purpose.
There hasn’t been that many new animated movies in the last few months, aside from the Lego Batman Movie, which was covered, but I can imagine that there will be more as we get closer to summer.
I also don’t think we’ve been limiting ourselves to just Disney and Dreamworks, we cover a lot of independent and foreign films too, especially thanks to Rachel Wagner, who writes about a lot of things that I never even hear of until she covers them.
If there’s something you think needs to be covered, feel free to write a guest editorial. We always welcome reader submissions, and if our editors like it, it could be featured! If you’re interested you can check out the guidelines here.
