Have you ever wondered what it takes to create and bring to life the amazing puppets seen in LAIKA’s movies? Well, now you can see for yourself!

LAIKA has released a new video clip showing how artists created the terrifying Moon Beast from its latest feature, Kubo and the Two Strings. From rigging to stop-motion animation to visual effects, so many different technical elements – and talented artists – come together to breathe life into this crazy creature.

The Moon Beast just one example of the many creatures featured in LAIKA’s Kubo and the Two Strings. As production designer Nelson Lowry explains in the video clip, “the monsters in Kubo really did push the boundaries of puppet making and technology.”

Kubo and the Two Strings is now available on Blu-ray, DVD, Digital HD and iTunes.

Cool video! I thought this movie was great and the artistry involved is stunning. I’d say it’s Laika’s best work yet, in fact.
