2016 Annecy Guide: Everything You Won’t Want to Miss

Starting tomorrow it’s time for the 2016 Annecy Film Festival in Annecy, France. It’s the biggest animation film festival in the world where big animation studio’s, animation students and animation fans all join together to get a look at everything that’s coming up. Besides presentations about upcoming animated features and exclusive premieres and screenings, there’s also a ton of opportunities for portfolio reviews and some signing sessions with animation talent.

In case you’re going this year, or you’re interested in following the latest gossip from the festival we selected some presentations, screenings, signing sessions and review opportunities you won’t want to miss out on this year.

Monday, June 13th

Pixar Animation Studios Recruitment Presentations

Time: 10:00-12:00 (Tips for Creating an Animator Demo Reel / Q&A / Meet and Greets), 15:00-17:00 (Tips for Creating a Story Portfolio / Q&A / Meet and Greets)
Location: L’Impérial Palace Salon Prestige and L’Impérial Palace Prestige

Come and learn more about what we look for in animation demo reels and story artist portfolios. Have you ever been interested in working for Pixar? Then this is a meeting you won’t want to miss!

Michaël Dudok De Wit – ‘The Red Turtle’

Time: 14:00 – 15:30 (signing session), 20:30 – 21:55 and 21:00 – 22:25 (screening)
Location: Bonlieu Forum (signing session), Bonlieu Grande salle and Bonlieu Petite salle (screening)

Last year, Michaël Dudok de Wit presented The Red Turtle as a Work in Progress, and now he’s ready to share the finished version as the Annecy Festival opener. The film is the first venture into feature direction for this Dutch filmmaker who is renowned for his shorts The Monk and the Fish and Father and Daughter.

DreamWorks’ Trolls

The next DreamWorks feature is almost here! From the creators of “Shrek” comes “Trolls”, a smart, funny and irreverent animated comedy. This fall, you can discover the story of the overly optimistic dolls who always have a song on their lips. They’ll be grappling with the comedically pessimistic Bergens, who are only happy when they have Trolls in their tummies.

Guillermo del Toro – Master of Storytelling

After reinventing the horror, fantasy and sci-fi genres with his work in film, television and books, Guillermo del Toro will present his upcoming project “Trollhunters” (DreamWorks).
He’ll reflect on his prolific career leading up to the world’s first glimpse at his latest creation, a Netflix original series. It’s a cinematic television experience for the whole family that will unleash a new fantastical world conceived by del Toro, full of complex characters and other trolls, residents of the fictional suburb of Arcadia.
