Benedict Cumberbatch to Star in Illumination Entertainment’s ‘The Grinch’

During Universal Pictures’ big presentation at CinemaCon yesterday, the studio announced some exciting news about future projects from Illumination Entertainment, the studio behind the Despicable Me films, Minions spin-off, and The Lorax. One of those announcements was about the upcoming adaptation of Dr Suess’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas story.

The studio announced that Benedict Cumberbatch will take on the role of the Grinch, who was previously played by Jim Carrey in 2001, in this computer animated adaptation. We also got our first look at the character, who looks surprisingly good below. Cumberbatch previously voiced a character in DreamWorks’ Penguins of Madagascar movie.

Illumination Entertainment’s adaptation of Dr Suess’ Grinch will open in theaters on November 10, 2017.
