D23 Releases Teaser Art for Disney XD’s ‘Ducktales’ Reboot

Ducktalescast

Among the incoming wave of high-profile reboots of classic animated TV properties is a revival of the classic Disney series, Ducktales.

Announced back in February of last year, the new Ducktales won’t arrive on Disney XD until next year. But we may have an idea of what the show will look like thanks to this teaser image unveiled on D23’s official Twitter account. See the image down below:

It would appear that, after much speculation, the show will be 2D-animated, assuming that is what the image confirms. Aside from that, fans of the original will be happy to know that the new show won’t stray too far (at least visually) from the trademark elements of its 1987 predecessor. Indeed, the image presented above is a classic Ducktales visual slightly modernized, complete with our lead cast: Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, grandnephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, and Webbigail “Webby” Vanderquack.

As previously announced, Ducktales‘ larger cast of secondary characters will also be imported over to the new show, including Duckworth, Gyro Gearloose, Launchpad McQuack, Flintheart Glomgold, Magica DeSpell & Poe, Ma Beagle and the Beagle Boys (Burger Beagle, Bouncer Beagle), and Mrs. Beakley.

We’ll know exactly how Disney XD manages to pull off reintroducing Ducktales for a new generation when the show premieres on the channel in 2017.

What do you think? Any thoughts on the teaser image? Are you still excited (or nervous) about the new Ducktales?
