‘The Secret Life of Pets’ Full Trailer + New Poster!

Two thousand sixteen is going to be an exciting year for Illumination Entertainment. It will not only be the first time ever that the studio will release two feature films in one year, it will also be the first time in four years that it will release an original animated feature after the success of the Despicable Me franchise. The Secret Life of Pets could potentially be the studio’s next big franchise, and by the looks of this trailer, this might actually not be that bad.

The first teaser trailer for The Secret Life of Pets got quite a lot of people, including people outside the animation community, talking. While that teaser was a great introduction to the characters of this film, this new, full, trailer reveals a little more of the film’s premise and we get to see some more of the characters. While the story does seem to have its similarities to Pixar’s Toy Story, it definitely looks like a lot of fun. And how can you not love the animation of some of these characters?

In addition to this new trailer, we also got a new poster which features the main pets looking over at the skyline of their home, New York City.

For one bustling Manhattan apartment building, the real day starts after the folks on two legs leave for work and school. That’s when the pets of every stripe, fur and feather begin their own nine-to-five routine: hanging out with each other, trading humiliating stories about their owners, or auditioning adorable looks to get better snacks. The building’s top dog, Max (voiced by Louis C.K.), a quick-witted terrier rescue who’s convinced he sits at the center of his owner’s universe, finds his pampered life rocked when she brings home Duke (Eric Stonestreet), a sloppy, massive mess of a mongrel with zero interpersonal skills. When this reluctant canine duo finds themselves out on the mean streets of New York, they have to set aside their differences and unite against a fluffy-yet-cunning bunny named Snowball (Kevin Hart), who’s building an army of Ex-Pets abandoned by their owners and out to turn the tables on humanity…all before dinnertime.

The Secret Life of Pets is co-directed by Chris Renaud and Yarrow Cheney. The film features the voice talents of Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet, Kevin Hart, Lake Bell, Jenny Slate, Ellie Kemper, and Albert Brooks.

The Secret Life of Pets hits theaters on July 8, 2016.

What do you think of this full trailer? Are you excited for The Secret Life of Pets?
