The nominations for the 2016 Academy Awards have been announced, and the Animation categories are sure to spark some conversation. Without further ado, here are the nominees for Best Animated Feature:
–Inside Out
–Anomalisa
–Boy and the World
–Shaun the Sheep Movie
–When Marnie Was There
Without Disney movies in 2015 and with Dreamworks not having a strong year, the nominees were sure to include some of the smaller films. Besides Pixar’s masterpiece, which also got a Best Original Screenplay nomination (Pixar’s eighth), the nominations include Charlie Kauffman’s stop-motion Anomalisa, a Brazilian movie with one of the most gorgeous trailer‘s you’ll ever see, the very British and very charming Shaun the Sheep and Studio Ghibli’s When Marnie Was There. Pixar’s second film of the year, The Good Dinosaur, did not score a nomination.
As for Best Animated Short Film, the nominees are:
–Bear Story
–Sanjay’s Super Team
–Prologue
–Can’t Live Without Cosmos
–World of Tomorrow
I’ve only seen the Pixar short so I can’t really have an opinion. If any of you have seen all or some of them, please leave your thoughts down in comments!
Do you think the nominations are fair? Would you have liked to have seen The Good Dinosaur fighting for the big prize? Which movie do you think will win? Should have Lava been nominated? Discuss!
