Envision Media Arts to Produce Animated PEZ Candy Movie

pez-dispensers

Oh, The Lego Movie, what did you start? Yes, according to Variety, Envision Media Arts will develop a film based on the famous and delicious candy and its dispensers. Cameron Fay will write the screenplay, with Lee Nelson and David Buelow producing the film for EMA.

Nelson, who is also the CEO and founder of EMA, said, “Pez candy is beloved by children and adults alike. With Cameron Fay we’ve created a world unique to Pez and a story that will touch the hearts of many.”

With movies based on PEZ, Trolls, Pets, and even more Lego coming, it seems that a new trend for Hollywood is to take popular, nostalgic, and childish items and create animated films based on them. The possible success of this new trend remains to be seen.

How do you feel about a movie based on PEZ? What other nostalgic toy should get an animated adaptation?
