I love animation, so whenever anyone tries to do anything creative or different with the medium, I get really excited. Vimeo user dono did just that with his amazing and inventive tribute to one of the greatest animators ever, Hayao Miyazaki. Seamlessly blending the 2D animated characters of Miyazaki’s movies and some newly created 3D backgrounds, dono creates an incredible tribute worthy of the great Miyazaki. Don’t just take my word on it, check it out here!

Miyazaki may have retired and Studio Ghibli may have halted production due to “reconstruction,” but its tributes like these that show that great animated movies and animators will live forever on in our hearts and in our minds.

What did you think of this tribute? Do you miss Miyazaki?
