Princess Emmy Film Set for 2017 Release

According to various news sources including Animation World Network, a theatrical feature-length film is set to be made regarding the German children’s books character, Princess Emmy. For those of us unfamiliar with the Princess Emmy character, she is a young princess who has the ability to speak with horses, including her own 26 horses.

The theatrical film, Princess Emmy – The Movie: The Slightly Different Princess, is said to focus on Princess Emmy preparing to be inducted into the Royal Society when she realizes that “that her extremely perfect cousin Gizana will also be appointed a Princess”. This affects her relationship with Gizana culminating in a situation where Gizana “falls into great danger”. On top of all this, Princess Emmy does her best to keep her horse-speaking skills a secret.

The film, being released via a joint venture between Studio 100 and Universum Film, seems to have a very young demographic in mind as its target audience which makes one wonder about the success of this film in theaters. But, Studio 100 and Universum Film previously co-released Maya the Bee – The Movie, another animated film with a young demographic in mind, which turned out to be a success. So maybe these studios know what they’re doing. Piet de Rycker is currently on board as the scriptwriter and director of the film due for release in 2017.
