While we are only a third of the way through our 2015 year in animation, the folks behind the awards show tailored directly towards that medium have already decided on a date.
Deadline recently reported this week that ASIFA Hollywood has set a February 6, 2016 date for what will be the 43nd Annual Annie Awards.
As of right now, no venue has been set for the awards show. It has been held at the UCLA Royce Hall in Los Angeles for the past six years, so it’s probable that they will hold the ceremony there again.
The 42nd Annual Annie Awards saw DreamWorks Animation’s How to Train Your Dragon 2 and Disney TV sweeping the awards. The former won six awards (including Best Animated Feature), in addition to getting an achievement award for its new Premo software system. The latter won nine awards, with most of them going to Disney TV Animation’s Mickey Mouse.
The awards were founded in 1972 by veteran voice actor June Foray. The Annies are run by the International Animated Film Association (IAFS). ASIFA-Hollywood is a branch chapter in its organization.
