In news that will come as a delight to fans of the 1960s Batman TV series, an animated film based on the series is set to be released in 2016 for its 50th anniversary!

According to Comicbook, the news was announced over the weekend at Mad Monster Con. Actors Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar are set to lend their voices to the characters they played in the original series: Batman, Robin, and Catwoman, respectively.

No further information was given regarding the film, but one wonders whether the animated film will feature the campiness that the original series was known for.

Are you excited to see this film? Are you a fan of the original TV series? How do you feel about Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar reprising their roles? Let us know in the comments below!
