In four months, Disneyland will celebrate the 60th anniversary of its July 1955 opening. While there are plans in motion at the park to celebrate Disneyland’s ‘Diamond’ anniversary, a recently-launched line of comic books will also celebrate the occasion.
Comic Book Resources recently unveiled two of the three variant covers for Uncle Scrooge #3 and Mickey Mouse #1 by IDW Publishing.
The cover for Uncle Scrooge is seen here:
The cover for Mickey Mouse can also be seen here:
Illustrated by IDW regular Derek Charm, these covers depict the main characters of the respective titles attending the Diamond celebration near the Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Donald Duck #2 will also get an anniversary cover. This cover, however, was not available for the press release.
The covers will debut with their respective issues in June. To refresh your memory, here is IDW’s roadmap of projected debuts and releases for their titles throughout the rest of the year:
Uncle Scrooge #1 will debut in April. The comic book is written by Jonathan Gray and Rodolfo Cimino and features art by Romano Scarpa. Donald Duck #1 will land in May and is written by Romano Scarpa and Jonathan Gray, with Scarpa and Al Taliaferro on art duties. Mickey Mouse #1 will land in June and is written by Andrea Castellan, Bill Walsh, and Jonathan Gray, with art by Giorgio Cavazzano and Manuel Gonzales.
All Disney/IDW titles will be available in bookstores, digital platforms, and your nearest comic book shop.
