It appears that it’s not just animation studios here in America who are dipping their toes back into faith-based animation.
Cartoon Brew recently announced that Entertainment One has picked up the U.S. distribution rights to a European-animated feature titled Ooops! Noah is Gone. Entertainment One was among one of the many distributors who were able grab the rights for the film to distribute in their respective countries. It’s not currently known when the film will be released here, but the other distributors do plan to release the film in their countries sometime this year.
As you could already tell, the film tackles what is arguably a universally recognizable story from the Bible—that of Noah’s Ark. But there is a twist to the film: instead of simply being a straight retelling of the story, the film will instead focus on the “untold story of the animals that didn’t get on the ark.” Said story will revolve around land-based Nestrian Dave and his son Finny and the antics that ensue when it they indeed happen to be one of the animals who didn’t make it onto the Ark.
There’s also a trailer for the film, which you can watch below:
Directed by Toby Genkel and Sean McCormack at Ulysses Filmproduktion in Germany, the film is a European co-production between Ireland-based Moetion Films, Luxembourg-based Fabrique d’Images, and Belguim-based Grid Animation.
