Aardman Animations has signed a deal with London Resort Company Holdings, the company behind the new Paramount London Entertainment Resort, which is set to open in Spring 2020.
Aardman is, arguably, the most popular animation studio in the UK. Their most familiar characters, Wallace and Gromit, gained them an Oscar in 2005 when they appeared in their first feature-length film The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Their other popular films include Chicken Run, The Pirates! Band of Misfits and Shaun the Sheep, which has developed its own popular franchise worldwide. The new deal could mean that Aardman’s characters may appear at the resort alongside Paramount Picture’s iconic Hollywood characters.

Sean Clarke, Head of Rights and Brand Development at Aardman, said that, “Aardman is proud of its British heritage and ability to make award-winning films and TV series that entertain audiences all over the world. This is a great foundation on which to work with LRCH, with a view to creating a range of highly entertaining and immersive attractions with our brands at the London Paramount Entertainment resort.”
Paramount London, a multi-billion pound project, will also feature attractions based on films from Paramount Pictures. Set to be included are Mission: Impossible, Star Trek, Titanic and The Italian Job. Doctor Who and Sherlock, from BBC Worldwide productions, will also be included in the attractions.

Paramount London’s official site explains that the park will have “visitors … from all over the UK and the rest of the world because we are committed to our core value of Diversity, we will ensure the Resort is accessible and provides facilities to allow all guests to enjoy the Resort equally.” Construction begins in winter 2016 and plan to be completed by spring 2020.
