Korea Plans ‘Red Shoes & the Seven Dwarfs’ for 2017 Release

According to Variety, the Korean animation company, Locus Creative Studio, is producing an animated film based on the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs fairy tale. The $12 million budget film is currently entitled Red Shoes & the Seven Dwarfs and focuses on the idea that the dwarfs “are knights under a spell and Snow White is no longer the fairest woman in the land.” The dwarfs must go on a quest to find some magical red shoes “which are already on the feet of another woman.”

Remniscent of The Wizard of Oz much?

For those of us not in Korea (which I think is most, if not all, of us), the South Korean sales agency, Finecut, has picked up the international rights to the film. Red Shoes & the Seven Dwarfs is scheduled for a summer 2017 release and hopefully we Americans will get to see the film within the same year!

Are you looking forward to this film? Do you think we have had too many different adaptations of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs? Let us know in the comments below!
