Second Trailer Debuts for DreamWorks’ ‘Home’

In preparation for the release of its next big animated feature, Penguins of Madagascar, DreamWorks Animation released a fun second trailer for its first release in 2015, Home, featuring the voice talent of Rihanna and Jim Parsons.

The first thing I thought after watching this new trailer is that I really like what I’m seeing. First off the visuals are top-notch. While the character designs perhaps aren’t completely groundbreaking or daring in any way, they’re fun and I think it really works for what they are trying to achieve with this film, the animation looks spectacular (like I expect from DreamWorks) and overall I just really like the look and feel of the movie.

While I don’t know much about the film’s story, many people seem to love the book this movie is based on (Adam Rex’ The True Meaning of Smekday) and while road-trip, buddy comedies have been done many times before in animation, it looks like DreamWorks is taking it to a whole new level with great characters, amazing visuals, fun humor and an original new world we haven’t seen before.

”When Earth is taken over by the overly confident Boov, an alien race in search of a new place to call home, all humans are promptly relocated while all Boov get busy reorganizing the planet. But when one resourceful girl, Tip, manages to avoid capture, she finds herself the accidental accomplice of a banished Boov named Oh. The two fugitives realize there’s a lot more at stake than intergalactic relations as they embark on the road trip of a lifetime.”

DreamWorks’ Home arrives in theaters March 27, 2015.
