Rather unsurprisingly, ‘For Your Consideration’ ads have already rolled out for numerous films eligible for their respective awards. As such, DreamWorks Animation has wasted no time in rolling out its ads for How to Train Your Dragon 2. What’s more, the studio now has a full website up that clearly positions How to Train Your Dragon 2 as a top contender for the 2014 awards season.
But that’s not the coolest part about the website. What’s awesome as that right now, for a limited time, visitors can listen to an exclusive extended version of the score and even get their hands on the official script!
Again, this is all for a limited time and is likely to disappear sometime after the end of the current awards season. But seriously, if you’re in anyway a Dragon fan or just an animation fan in general, it’s absolutely a must that you go and check these out.
In truth, much of the extended score is actually full songs from the soundtrack broken down into smaller parts. But what makes it as great a listen is that a good chunk of these songs cover the complete and total musical composition of the film from beginning to end. Basically, you get to hear the soundtrack as was heard in the film (and even as originally composed).
The screenplay is an even bigger treat. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get into writing screenplays themselves or simply anyone who has a sharp interest in creative writing. It gives you a much clearer and complete sense of the deftness of which Dean constructed the second chapter of the trilogy.
You can access the soundtrack on the website here. The screenplay (which comes as a PDF file) can be read here.
Do these new materials give you a much deeper appreciation for How to Train Your Dragon 2?
