A few months ago I had the privilege of going to the Animation Block Party which is a week long film festival that showcases everything from old school cartoons (Farmer Alfalfa), animators’ out of office creations (Titmouse Inc.), and my personal favorite, fresh animated shorts.

One of my festival favorites was from Arthur Metcalf who is not a newcomer to the festival circuit but still manages to bring something thoughtful yet simple. In his Animation Block Party submission In the Beginning, we see a fresh and entertaining take on the story of creation:

In the Beginning is a great example of what was showcased at the Animation Block Party. I can’t wait for next year’s festival as I’m sure we’ll be seeing even more amazing shorts.

What did you think of this short? Will you try to make it to next year’s Animation Block Party?
