DreamWorks Story Artist Johane Matte Reveals ‘How to Train Your Dragon 2’Alternate Opening in an Unofficial Comic

Originally How to Train Your Dragon 2 writer and director, Dean DeBlois, wrote an entirely different opening sequence than what eventually ended up in the final film, the scene was considered too dark and ultimately got cut. Though we won’t be able to enjoy the original scene fully animated, DreamWorks story artist Johane Matte illustrated the scene as a comic for a How to Train Your Dragon 2 art show. Visitors of the art show will be able to get a physical copy of the comic but Johane was kind enough to also share the comic online for everyone who won’t be able to visit the art show.
