‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ Movie Announced!

sonic-the-hedgehog

According to many news sites including The Hollywood Reporter, the famous video game character, Sonic the Hedgehog, is set to appear in his first theatrical film. Not much is known about the film yet except that it’ll be a hybrid of live-action and CGI animation (most likely along the lines of films such as Alvin and the Chimpunks, Scooby-Doo, The Smurfs, and Yogi Bear) and feature many characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

The film is being produced as a joint venture between Sony Animation and Marza Animation Planet (the same company that’s behind the upcoming Robodog film that we reported earlier).

Although this would be the first theatrical film based on Sonic the Hedgehog, the character has made a name for himself in various TV shows. He’s even set to star in a new CGI series called Sonic Boom, which is scheduled to air on the Cartoon Network during Fall 2014.

I wonder if this is any indication as to how Sonic will look in the theatrical film!
