Shout! Factory, The Film Collective, Dada Films, and Brainstorm Media have joined forces to bring the popular French CG animated film Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart to US theatres and VOD on September 24, 2014.

Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart is a beautiful, unique looking CG film. It feels like a LAIKA or stop-motion film because of its design, movements and color palette. Stylized films like this are hit and miss with US audiences, but hopefully theatergoers will give this one a chance.

About the announcement, Shout! Factory’s co-founder Garson Foos said,  “Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart is an incredibly beautiful, unusual and artful film. We’re really proud to be involved in bringing this movie to the North American audience. It’s something that movie fans will enjoy – with an excellent original soundtrack as well.”

Shout! Factory previously brought us the wonderful French film A Monster in Paris, but was unable to bring it to theatres, which limited the film’s potential audience and reach. This time around they won’t be making that mistake. The Film Collective and Dada Films will handle theatrical distribution, while Brainstorm will handle the VOD. With this partnership, US audiences will get to enjoy this indie, quirky and offbeat romance film in theatres. Check out the English trailer below:

Pot synopsis:

Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart is a whimsical and visually opulent animated fairy tale set in an exciting period full of fabulous inventions, unforgettable characters, enchanting music, and fantastic adventures. This superbly animated movie about love and the acceptance of others will appeal to animation lovers looking for something a bit edgier and artistic.

Mathias Malzieu is the lead singer for his band Dionysos and adapted Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart from his own bestselling novel and gold-selling album. It is directed by Mathias Malzieu and Stéphane Berla and produced by Virginie Besson-Silla and Luc Besson. The English voice casts includes Orlando Seale, Samantha Barks, Harry Sadeghi, Stéphane Cornicard, Sophia Ellis, Jessie Buckley, Barbara Scaff, Michelle Fairley, and Richard Riddings.

Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart will hit US theaters and VOD on the same day, September 24, 2014.

What do you think of ‘Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock Heart’? Will you see it in theatres or VOD?
