Pitch Perfect star Anna Kendrick is lending her voice to the lead character in DreamWorks’ Trolls. In a press release DreamWorks revealed that Anna Kendrick will voice the main character of the film, Poppy the princess in this upcoming animated musical set to release in 2016.

Poppy is a “relentlessly upbeat princess” and will be the main character of the film. She also will give her pipes to the singing voice of the character. My interest in Trolls just skyrocketed after this announcement. Kendrick is an Academy Award-winning actress and is incredibly talented, funny and charming, so this film is going to be a real delight with her at the helm.

Trolls director Mike Mitchell (Shrek Forever After) also commented, “Anna has proven herself to be a brilliant actress with an amazing singing voice.  She’ll inject Poppy with the exact mix of spirit, sass and song that will no doubt give a whole new life to the iconic Troll dolls.”

Not much else is known about Trolls‘ plot, but here’s a little synopsis from the press release:

DreamWorks’ Trolls is a fun-filled adventure that finally reveals what Trolls fans all over the world have been waiting for … the story behind the beloved, colorful nature of the Trolls trademark gravity-defying hair!

Trolls will hit theatres November 4, 2014.
