According to many news sites including E! Online, Netflix is rebooting the 90s educational animated series, The Magic School Bus. Based on science-related books by Joanna Cole, the series was about an eccentric teacher named Ms. Frizzle who taught her class scientific concepts via the help of her magical bus that could pretty much do anything: shrink the kids, make the kids grow, transform into cells, transform into a space vehicle, transform into a basketball court, etc.
The reboot will be entitled, The Magic School Bus 360° and will be computer animated as opposed to the traditional animation that was prevalent in the original series.
I for one, am super excited about this as The Magic School Bus was probably my favorite animated show growing up! Yes, I was that guy who actually ENJOYED educational entertainment! I was the guy who played Carmen Sandiego and The Cluefinders computer games and watched shows like The Magic School Bus, Liberty’s Kids, and Cyberchase. Sadly though, the reboot isn’t due to come out until 2016 and we don’t have any news on whether the old voice cast will reprise their roles or not. Oh well, one must have patience, I guess!
As we await this reboot, let us wax nostalgic with the theme song from the original series performed by Little Richard:
