Walt Disney Animation Studios will premiere the teaser trailer for its 54th film, Big Hero 6, online May 22.
This comes ahead of the initially announced attachment of the teaser to Maleficent in theaters May 30 (though it’s likely the trailer will still play there, too). It seems gone are the days when studios would release their most anticipated previews on the big screen, with a cyber debut to follow after opening weekend. It’s definitely a welcome change for those not wanting to shell out $12 for the sake of a trailer, but admittedly loses some of the bundled momentum. That hype in the theater is traded off for hype on social media, as seen here with a countdown graphic @DisneyAnimation posted on Twitter.
