Pangolin Placement in Disney’s Future?

According to CNN, a petition is currently making rounds requesting Disney to make an animated film based on a pangolin. And if you’re like me, you’re wondering, “What the heck is a pangolin?”

Apparently, the pangolin is a small animal, found in Asia and Africa, that is currently near extinction. The animal, which can defend itself from pretty much any predator by rolling into a ball, is decreasing in numbers drastically mainly due to it being hunted and trafficked. Its scales are used for medicinal purposes and its meat is used for…”delicious-ness” purposes.

So one day, a man by the name of Kit Skogsbergh started this petition with the hopes that if Disney makes an animated film based on this character, then the character will become more well-known and hopefully more can be done to stop its impending extinction.

Personally, this leaves me scratching my head. You can’t just force Disney to make an animated movie. Disney chooses its stories based on internal people who pitch their ideas. They don’t solicit ideas from the public. The fact that this petition is making rounds is pretty hilarious and I highly doubt it we will see it come to fruition. But hey, one can try, right?

What do you think? Would you like to see an animated film based on this character? If so, which film? Do you think it’d fit in well with the cast of the upcoming Zootopia?
